Caring oily skin:
Almost everyone has an oily skin during adolescence which makes acne and dandruff a common problem at this age. As the skin matures, this condition improves; however, in many cases the mature skin too may have oily areas. Adult’s oily skin is different from teenage oily skin and must be treated differently.
Some factors that are the causes of oily skin are hormones, diet, environment, genetics and emotions..
Cure and Treatment for oily skin:
An oily skin is basically a healthy skin. Hence this conditions can be corrected with little time and effort. The oil helps to retain the water contents in the skin as it acts as a shield against evaporation.
Cleansing is very important for an oily skin. The most effective cleanser for an oily skin is water soluble milky liquid or a light vanishing cold cream. Since an oily skin produces more then enough oil, naturally avoid creams, lubricants or night oils as these are primarily emulsions of oil and water. Use a liquid cleanser which is not absorbed by the skin. Remove the cleanser with tissue or cotton wool. After cleansing the face wash with warm water and mild soap, working the lather into your skin with fingertips. Rinse soap with warm water then splash cool water and finally cold water which helps to close pores. You have rinsed off every trace of the cleanser, dry your skin and use a lotion to pamper the delicate areas and avoid using dry soaps, astringents on these areas.
Face packs are also helpful to correct the skin’s oil secretion. They help to lighten pores and refine oily skins. Special types of packs are available for oily skins.
Make-up and oily skin:
Water based, oil free make-up is the right type for an oily skin. Use liquid foundation, dry brush on rouge, eye shadow and light lipsticks. A liquid foundation is preferable to a cream type for oily skins. If the result is oily, lightly press a tissue to remove excess grease and brush on loose face powder lightly.

FIVE GOLDEN RULES FOR SKIN CARE

The following are the five golden Rules for basic skin care.
Cleansing
Cleansing
Toning
Moisturizing
Nourishing
Weekly face packs.
Let us see in detail and their importance.
Cleansing:
One of the functions of the skin is to eliminate impurities. If you look at your skin under a magnifying glass, you will find dust, dirt, bacteria, excess sebum, stale makeup etc. Which has accumulated on its surface? It is very essential that every trace of this waste matter is thoroughly cleansed away. Otherwise these impurities will form a layer of dead cells and the underlying cells will not function properly as the pores will get clogged. This will result in blackheads. The skin is a living organ which must breathe freely; hence it is vital to keep the pores clean. You must clean your skin every morning and night. Cleansing at night will help to nurture your skin. Repeating the procedure again in the morning will give you a clean skin for make-up.
2. Toning:
Cleansing cleans the skin while toning improves its texture. The toner is a lotion which rinses off the remains after cleansing. It stimulates and tightens the pores after the skin has been cleansed and thus perks up the skin to make it active, healthy and lively.
Moisturizing:
Protect your skin with a moisturizer under the make-up. It helps to conserve the skin’s moisture. Allow a few minutes for the product to settle on the skin before putting on your make-up base. The skin is capable of taking up moisture from a natural loss of moisture from the skin which may be caused by drying conditions like the sun, the wind and so on.
Nourishing:
Just as plants are watered and furniture is polished lubricating the skin is essential for long lasting beauty. Nourishing postpones the arrival of wrinkles and lines. A good nourishing cream to suit your skin type will replace the precious oil and the natural moisture. It seals in the moisture of the skin and makes it look supple. Nourishing creams contain innolin oil or oily substances which resemble the natural sebum in the skin. This is why they constitute a good skin food.
Weekly Face packs:
A weekly face pack helps to absorb the excess oil and dirt from the skin. These packs can be in the florm of powders, pastes, creams. But all are designed to refine the complexion and make it look fresh and smooth. When the face pack dries the tightening action gives a boost to the blood circulation. The dead surface layers of the skin combine with the pack and when the pack is washed off, it takes away with it the loose flaky skin on the surface. The pores get unblocked and this controls blackheads. All this helps to give a glow to the skin.

Different Kind of Skins
There are about six different kinds of skin:Lets see What they are:
Normal skin.
Is one where sweat glands and sebaceous glands (oil) are working in perfect harmony, texture is fine and appearance is clear and healthy. There should be no flakey patches, open pores or obvious grease, to the touch. A normal skin reveals neither excessive grease or moisture nor extreme dryness. Make this up smoothly and it looks beautifully met.
Combination Skin:
Often a normal or very dry skin has a panel of grease down the centre of the head, chin and nose. You can recognize a combination skin by the excessive oiliness of the panel which may contain open pores and heads, just like ordinary greasy skin. For these combination skins you may need astringent for the greasy panel and diluted astringent or skin freshener or tonic for the rest of the face.
Sensitive skin
It is often difficult to recognize a sensitive skin officially. It requires special recommendation
Greasy skin:
Grease tends to break up through the make up, particularly around the nose; chin and acutely greasy skin condition often result in open pores and blackheads. Makeup will not stay matt for a very long time on this type of skins. It is important not to confuse tiny heads of moisture which are caused by sweat glands with the oiliness due to greasy skin, which is caused by over active sebaceous glands.
Greasy skin is usually accompanied with greasy hair and scalp. Frequent shampooing and corrective treatments can reduce the greasiness in hair and scalp. Greasy skin requires constant attention to counteract the excess oiliness. It does not age as early as a dry skin but it tends to become dryer and convert itself at the age of 40. Recommended treatments to normalize the grease glands and prevent unnecessary skin blemishes and pimples.
Oily Dry skin
This is Avery common type of skin; dry skin is very slightly lined and wrinkled even in youth. May become sore if washed with soap and will have a highly polished appearance. A dry skin needs extra natural oil and will age early if not cared for.
Moisture Dry skin:
While this is may not be exhibit any of the listed symptoms described above, it will certainly develop flaky patches and must be protected morning and night with moisturizing creams.

Know your Skin Better

The skin is just not the outer protective, covering for the body. The skin of the face and the body is very special, complex, living organ aswell as a source of beauty. To look beautiful you should have a beautiful skin.
As the skin texture is structured in a very complex way. There are four things that effect it-heredity, environment, age and the amount of care bestowed upon it.If you put a section through your skin it would reveal a composition of closely connected layers.
The three main layers are the Epidermis, Dermis and the Sub-Dermis layer fo the skin.
The epidermis is the topmost, horney outer layer made up of a substance called keretine and protein which protects your skin from the cold ,heat, and dryness that can cause skin problems. This is the layer that you fret about as all the physical and mental stress is shown in this layer.
In the lower layer of the epidermis, new cells grow and as they grow, they push upwards to the surface.By the time they reach the surface of they complete the lifecycle and become the dead cells or dead protein which have to be removed to make way for new cells.
The dried up cells get washed away when we bathe or are rubbed off by the friction of our clothes or by using a scrub.
The skin is constantly growing and after about 20 days new cells are born at it's base. This process is also called 'shedding' of the skin.
Beneath the epidermis lies the dermis or the true skin or the inner layer. Though you cannot see it, this is where trouble often begins. Here pimples and acne come and also other plagues begin before you are even aware of it. In this layer oil and sweat glands are found, hair follicle and blood vessels.
The third layer is the under layer of the sub dermal layer or the fatty layer. This fatty layer serves as cushions and helps to give shape to the body. If a large portion of thin fat is lost quickly through illness, crash diet or stress, the skin becomes loose and shaggy, folds and wrinkles form and takes time to adjust to the form.
Thus we see that the skin is a highly intricate structure consisting of cells which are dying and being removed again and again in the process.
The type and condition of the new skin depends on many factors as mentioned earlier such as diet, general health, emotions, the life you lead and the amount of attention you give to take care of your beautiful skin.
First it is vital to realize that soft youthful looking skin is because of water or moisture in the skin. The millions of cells in the skin contain water which gives it softness. The skin is robbed of this moisture by the sun, wind, cold, age, air conditioners. Too much sun or cold make these cells shrink and unable to hold enough water. The water escapes and gives a dry appearance. That’s when the skin begins to look like prune instead of plum.
What your skin needs by the way of treatment to improve the texture depends on its type.
So lets see the different types of skin in further posts.
